Mendip Engineering website created by John Norman
Mendip Engineering was started in 1971. At that time the company
was called Mendip Electronics and had rented offices in Midsomer Norton.
It was involved with design work for Imperial Tobacco, British Nuclear
Fuels and various other small companies. The first two employees were taken
on later that year.
The company moved to its own premises to Pows Orchard in 1976. At
this time the company was involved with the packaging business designing
and building control panels, wiring and commissioning machines. Customers
included Mardon, Son & Hall, Kliklok International and DRG Packaging.
In the early 80's the company began doing repair work for a local print
company. This service quickly expanded to include maintenance and
electrical installation.
In 1987 an engineering factory was opened at Wincanton offering a back up
service for the repair and maintenance of machinery.
In 1991 the company became Mendip Engineering to show its broader field of
of capabilities.
The company also installs monitoring equipment for the local water board
offering a complete package from pipework to wiring.
The company now has sixteen employees and a small fleet of seven vans.
